I’ve always thought that I would happily age gracefully, embracing my wrinkles as expressions of a life full of laughter. So romantic, right? My approach to makeup and skincare was similarly blasé: the only skincare product I used was face wash, and I never understood why anyone would spend $50 on a product that could be purchased for a fraction of the price at a drugstore. Then one day I woke up with a wrinkle and that completely naive outlook changed dramatically. Let’s face it, at some point you need to start investing in your skin.
I consider myself very lucky to have friends that are obsessed with beauty products and try every sample they can get their hands on – they get to do all the work, and I get the recommendations. The above products have been recommended to me numerous times, and once *the wrinkle* happened, I too became totally obsessed. Doing these five steps daily makes my skin feel soft, nourished, and radiant. Happy skin is worth every penny.
I just love the look of a leather motorcycle jacket thrown over a flirty dress. It’s such an effortless and foolproof outfit. You’re girly, edgy, comfortable, and chic – one of those ‘don’t try to label me, I am who I am’ outfits.
I love balancing hard and soft pieces together, and this combo is perfect for a spring day in the City. The leather moto jackets I’ve been eyeing are $500+ so I starting looking at faux leather to keep the cost down, while making sure don’t look or feel cheaper. These six fit the bill, and have an amazing price point – all under $200!
Why are bathing suits so expensive?? It just kills me. $200+ for 1 foot of fabric is completely unreasonable. If you’re like me and have been lusting after the amazing Mara Hoffman swimwear this season, you’ve also experienced some sticker shock. Bright and bold tribal prints are a must for the beach this summer and I’ve rounded up four of my faves that are available for a fraction of the price at Pacific Sunwear.
One of my favorite things about living in San Francisco is the abundance of weekend getaways just a short drive away. Every weekend is filled with countless options: shall we go to hiking in Big Sur or Mill Valley, sail to Angel Island, swim at Stinson Beach, crack oysters in Tomales Bay, or wine taste in Napa Valley? We are so incredibly lucky and make sure to take full advantage of these possibilities.
We headed to Napa last weekend and I must make a recommendation if you find yourself there: Auburge du Soleil is a stunning luxury resort nestled in the hills and overlooks Napa Valley. We stopped by for a cocktail on the Bistro terrace to enjoy the beautiful panoramic views of the vineyards, and I felt like we had been transported to Tuscany. It was absolutely breathtaking, in every sense of the word. You must must must check it out.
That said – Monday is just the absolute worst. After such a wonderful weekend, heading back to work on Monday is a tough jolt of reality. This is always a good time for some retail therapy, and I rounded up some pieces currently on my wish list that will be perfect for your next weekend getaway, from day time tops to dinner dates. I’m especially coveting this and this.
Here in San Francisco, the moment it hits 65 and sunny everyone runs to a patch of grass somewhere to soak up the sun, praise summertime, and drink beer. We also wear summer dresses knowing full well the moment the sun begins to set and the wind picks up we’ll be throwing on North Face and Patagonia and cursing the winter. It’s a constant cycle you come to accept pretty quickly.
So that’s exactly what we did a few weeks ago at the Pelican Inn in Muir Beach. This is an adorable old English style inn and pub nestled between a mountain and a beach in Marin County, where you can spend a leisurely afternoon sprawled on their lawn.
Now I come to the point – here there was a beautiful young woman wearing a loose white shirt dress and leather sandals who looked so utterly chic and relaxed – like she was transported from the French Riviera. The dress was a light airy linen and hung loosely from the body, but sheer enough to be flirty and exude the attitude “I can’t be bothered to care if you can see my knickers.” She was just so cool.
Here is a roundup of the best white shirt dresses I could find, all under $100, so that we can all shamelessly copy this woman. I recommend throwing the belt out and pairing with leather sandals, on a lawn or a beach, with a cocktail in hand. Cheers!
Gray Milan’s photography is just the best, isn’t it? I’ve been gushing over his work for months wishing I could have it on every wall of my home and office – being instantly transported on some great adventure every time I look at it. Unfortunately, starting at around $300 for an 11×17 print, this dream isn’t attainable. Which is why I was SO excited when I saw Gray Milan’s Lisbon Umbrella photo plastered on a Sperry shoe! These are too perfect for any beach / vacation / boating experience, and at just $70 I can pretend I’m a jet-setting art collector with the rest of them. Sperry Shoes / IPhone Cases
I love J.Crew. Love love love. You can throw together any of their pieces at random and be perfectly put together. Their striped shirts, statement necklaces, and ballet flats are staples in my closet. That said, J.Crew can still be a little pricey (even while exclusively shopping their sales) and so I like to turn to J.Crew Factory from time to time for the same Parisian chic styles at a fraction of the price. The entire store is 50% off right now and I’ve rounded up my favorite spring items, all under $60! I will definitely be taking home the cutest pom-pom tunic for the beach, and some chambray shorts.
This week a girlfriend asked me for some shopping help: she is a bridesmaid in a friend’s desert wedding and needed a bridesmaid dress for the occasion – it just needed to be black (ps. love that the bride let them pick their own dresses!). While I scoured two of my favorite online boutiques, Revolve and ASOS, I not only found dresses perfect for the wedding, but these beautiful black dresses that would work for so many other events they had to be shared! The details on these dresses elevate the LBD from simple to chic, edgy, and sophisticated.
This first dress is a must-have cocktail dress that I will definitely be ordering – with scallops, eyelets, AND lace-up sides, the details are almost too much to handle. Pair with simple accessories and sandal heels to complete the outfit. Voila!
